Kickoff Rally 2010

The  2010 Activate Upstate kickoff rally was held at the Carolina First Center on January 19. Nearly 700 participants came to register for the program, weigh-in, receive free health screenings, and visit numerous booths with health education resources. The YMCA of Greenville, Furman University, Greenville Hospital System, Greenville County Recreation District, Earth Fare, Greenville Track Club, and the Greenville Drive were among the community partners present. Participants also had the opportunity to hear a testimonial by 2009 Activate participant Lehn Garrett and a health talk on goal setting by Furman professor Dr. Anna Mathews. YMCA group exercise instructors led activity demonstrations and Walter's Pals produce mascots entertained attendees of all ages. Overall, the kickoff rally was a "call to action" to make major lifestyle changes towards the journey to better health in the weeks and months to come.
